~story by Mikey Leung~

Tours of Bangladesh’s famous National Assembly building are not too hard to come by, with a few private operators offering to arrange the trip. But for those of you who don’t get the chance.. here’s what some careful digging has discovered:

Nathaniel Kahn is Louis Kahn’s son. The famous architect was found dead in a washroom in Pennsylvania, adding to the eccentric stories surrounding his life. Nathaniel really never knew his father, and so this documentary journey offers some rare footage of a building you can visit as a tourist, but you are not permitted to photograph inside. If anybody has a copy or a review please let us know!!

Thanks for the documentary of Nathaniel Kahn.
Few years ago I had an opportunity to attend an exhibition on Luis Kahn at the Bangladesh National Musium at Dhaka arranged by the Bangladesh Architects Association.
The exhibition contained details of several drawings, notes, pictures about making of the Architectural Drawing of the Bangladesh National Assembly by Luis Kahn and his team, which he designed in harmony with the natural beauty of watery Bangladesh.
This documentary is in a way Nathaniel Kahn’s journey to find his father whom he never knew.
Back from Vancouver watching this documentary is so nostalgic to me!
Few months back Mayor Sam Sullivan while meeting some Bangladeshi Vancouverites in a program expressed his wish to see Luis Kahn’s famous creation at Dhaka.
