I expected the poem "September in Jessore Road" would be available here. Anyway, I got some nice ideas from this webPage. And the Bangla version of the song is touchy.

I am interested to know more about the background of the poem e.g. Allen Ginsbergs visit to the refugee camp, when and where the poem was first published, impact of the poem. Does any one know who translated the poem that wsa sung by Mousumi Bhoumik? Does anyone know about any article on the poem?

Thanks
shaheen

Our people are hungry for a new, young, educated, able, efficient, patriotic leadership who can lead us in this current day modern world! In the current scenario it doesn't look like we are getting one in-spite of the recent ensuing election! Honestly we don't trust and want either of them! Both of them should have given space for a new leader! We need a CHANGE! I guess the conscious silent majority should be more pro-active and vocal to be heard, listened and followed for! So that the dream of all who sacrificed their life for the independence of this country comes to be true! We are 'Waiting for Godot! Lets see how it goes......

I am impressed that you included the Bangla version of the song sang by Moushumi Bhowmik, otherwise I was going to mention it!
There were also benefit concerts -The Concert for Bangladesh- organized by George Harrison and Ravi Shankar at Madison Square Garden, New York City in August 1971, also performed by Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Billy Preston, Leon Russell, and Ringo Starr (later an album and a concert film were released). which also documents the sufferings and violence of the death of three million innocent civilians due to this atrocities and
genocide committed by the Pakistani Army against common 'East Pakistani' people(now Bangladeshi) leading to Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971 and independence of Bangladesh!
Interestingly US Government supported Pakistan in this war and genocide!
We are yet to achieve all our dreams of what this independence really meant for! Freedom from poverty, corruption, violence and to build a progressive, prosperous, peaceful Bangladesh! Our people are ready for that but we are badly in need a right leader!
